MANN KI BAAT: THE WAR AGAINST CORONAVIRUS IS PEOPLE-DRIVEN SAYS PM MODI

The Nation is in war against COVID-19 pandemic, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today while addressing people through his monthly radio programme “Mann ki baat’, he further added tha it is a ‘people-driven’ fight against the contagious coronavirus

PM Modi also acknowledged and appreciated the contribution of the state governments.
On April 14, the Prime Minister had announced an extension of the lockdown. On the occasion, he had also lauded the efforts of the citizens to grapple COVID-19.
Urban or rural, everywhere we can witness people involved in the fight to combat COVID-19. While some are feeding the poor, others are selling land to raise money for this fight, yet others are contributing their pension,” PM Modi said in his monthly radio address Mann ki Baat today.

He had also made it clear that the state governments had pressed for an extension of the lockdown.
“The state governments of the country have also acted with great responsibility in this, managing the situation round the clock. I have been in continuous touch with the states on how to fight against Coronavirus and its progress in India. Everyone has suggested that the lockdown should be continued. Many states have in fact already decided and declared to continue the lockdown,” he said.

PM Modi further said that the government has come up with a Digital Platform covidwarriors.gov.in. The volunteers of social organizations, representatives of civil society and local administration have been linked with each other through this platform. He appreciated that in a very short time, 1.25 billion people including Doctors, Nurses, ASHA-ANM workers, NCC and NSS cadets, professionals from different fields have become a part of this portal. These coronavirus warriors are of immense help at the local level in preparing Crisis Management Plans and implementing them. He urged people to join covidwarriors.gov.in to be a Coronavirus warrior and serve the country.
As many as 26,917 people have tested positive of COVID-19 Infection and 826 have succumbed to death so far according to the Union Health Ministry.
Mr. Modi urged people to follow the guidelines of the local administration during Ramazan as it is very important to follow the rules of physical distancing in the streets, markets and in mohallas or colonies. He expressed gratitude to all those community leaders who are making people aware about the two yards distancing and not going out of the houses. The Prime Minister said, Corona has changed the manner of celebrating festivals all over the world including India and it has changed the ways of their observance.
In the 63rd episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’, Modi had focused on the situation prevailing in the country due to COVID-19.
