No clear word by UPSC on deferment of Civil Services prelims date
Abhishek Ranjan.
UPSC prelims which is scheduled to be held on 31st May 2020 is creating a chaos among students. Due to coronavirus situation, many exams across India are getting delayed. A rising speculation is observed among students on deferment of exam date as it is going to be held on the last day of May.
Even Congress MP from Thiruvananthapuram Dr. Shashi Tharoor put a tweet on this matter, asking Hon’ble Minister Dr. Jitender Singh to clarify on this issue.
Each year about 9 lakh students appear for the coveted UPSC exams to join the prestigious civil services. But so far no aspirant has a clue whether the Preliminary exam will go ahead as scheduled on May 31st or be postponed. @DrJitendraSingh please clarify, am deluged w/queries!

However UPSC today issued a notice saying that no decision is made on delaying civil services prelims exam 2020. As of now, exam stands to be conducted on 31st May 2020.
Even many students are left for interview process of Civil Services Exam 2019 which will be organised after the end of covid crisis as per notification by UPSC.
Traditionally, new prelims exams are conducted after the declaration of final UPSC results. Many students who are left behind in interview stage or looking for rank improvement tend to appear in next exam cycle. However this can only happen after the declaration of results which is very unlikely.
Therefore the aspirant class is in an anxious state and looking for clarification on the issue.
