OUTBURST OF NATURE IN BIHAR

KANCHAN.

The condition of Bihar is now like “A well in front, a ditch behind” as the nature is not showing mercy on the people of Bihar. In Bihar, the current situation is getting worst and people are struggling for their lives against coronavirus, heavy rainfall, and flood. As the Covid has been the problem of the entire world, Heavy rain and floods are now additional threat to the people of Bihar. People who are already suffering from any disease their lives are at high risk at this situation.

In Bihar the health infrastructure has been a subject of criticism for long. Though it has improved during last couple of years but still it lags behind. The state has only four hospitals which are mainly devoted to the Covid-19 deadly viral disease. In Nalanda Medical College and Hospital (NMCH) there are 447 beds and ICU- 20 beds, Gaya Medical College there are 450 bed and ICU-4 bed, Bhagalpur Medical College there are 600 bed and ICU-14 bed and in AIIMS-PATNA there are 1000 bed and ICU-40 bed. As the cases are increasing every day and there is also an urgent need to improve the testing facility in the state.

Bihar was already facing the hit and now another problem in form of severe flood is before the govt. The government has not provided any solution for the release of cusecs of water from the river in the villages. Every year due to heavy rainfall and flood, crops get ruined and stagnant water is gives rise to many diseases. People homes are drowning in water due to which many have no place to live in. In emergencies, people are using boats to go to the hospital.
Some people initiated to open community kitchen to feed the flood victims of Bihar and regularly, they are feeding more than 5000 people. Everyday water level is increasing and causing panic among the population.
As the state is scheduled to go to the elections this year, the government should focus much on people’s lives and health. Any casualty in handling the situation might go against the present set up.
